The municipality is bordered to the north by the Monchique, to the east by the Silves and Lagoa, and to the west by the Lagos; to the south, has a coastal sector along the Atlantic Ocean. Portimão is a port city in the Algarve region, in the south of Portugal. It is known for its old town, lively marina and proximity to several beaches.
