A sua maior extensão, contudo, não causa problemas de acessibilidade, pois encontrase coberta por uma rede viária e de transporte que liga os principais aglomerados urbanos. Igualmente habitada desde tempos remotos, a sua produção agrícola e animal, abastece os outros centros urbanos do concelho. O povoamento disperso, típico de zonas do interior, contribui para uma tranquilidade e uma beleza natural difícil de se encontrar no resto do Algarve. Com equipamentos modernos e completos ao dispor da população residente, nomeadamente os apoios à população sénior, a Mexilhoeira Grande oferece uma qualidade de vida bastante elevada, não sendo por isso de estranhar a preferência por esta freguesia por parte de muitos cidadãos que a escolheram quando se mudaram para o Algarve. Existem inúmeras oportunidades de investimento, quer ao nível de negócio ou empresarial, quer ao nível de instalação para habitação permanente ou de férias. Beneficiando igualmente de um clima temperado, muito agradável ao longo de todo o ano, sem invernos frios nem verões sufocantes, a freguesia está muito próxima do autódromo internacional do Algarve, pista escolhida para a realização de grandes competições, graças a todas as infraestruturas existentes. A Mexilhoeira Grande complementa, na perfeição, as outras duas freguesias do concelho de Portimão.
